We’re calling for EOIs!

Click me for EOI Form

We’re inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from volunteer groups in the Peel-Harvey ahead of an upcoming release of small project grants (up to $5,000), as part of WAterways Western Australia – an initiative hosted by the University of Western Australia and supported by the Feilman Foundation.

These grants are intended to support new or continuing volunteer projects, over a 10-12 month period, that positively contribute to local waterways and aquatic environments in the Peel‑Harvey Catchment region (think clean‑ups, wetland plantings, citizen science such as shorebirds/mussel gardens, community education, etc.).

For a map of the PHC region, please use the following link (kindly provided by Peel-Harvey Catchment Council): https://maps.peel-harvey.org.au/#9/-32.6950/116.5193

Share you Experience

As part of the WAterways program, alongside the project grants we will be conducting a study on the value and impact of volunteering, this research component is entirely voluntary and will include: Four short online surveys (open to any eligible group, whether funded or not), and up to two face‑to‑face interviews (for funded groups).

We would love to hear from all eligible volunteer groups – and to thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, each time you complete a survey you will go in the draw to win one of many $50 gift cards up for grabs!

Keen to be involved?

Please download the EOI using the 'APPLY NOW!' button, complete page 2 and send via email to Anna Costello at anna.costello@uwa.edu.au

If your EOI is eligible, it will be shortlisted and we will reach out with:

  • An invitation to submit a full grant application;

  • instructions to access the four surveys, and;

  • participant information and consent forms (until consent is obtained, any data collected for the application is used only for selection/planning).

Thank you and best wishes!

WAterways EOI - FAQs

  • How many grants are available? We expect to fund multiple small projects (~15 grants of up to $5,000 each) across the Peel–Harvey Catchment.

  • Are continuing projects eligible? Yes. Projects can be new or continuing, delivered within the PHC over about 10–12 months - and must demonstrate a positive contribution to PHC waterways, water bodies and/or aquatic environments. PHC map: https://maps.peel-harvey.org.au/

  • What can we spend the grant on? Eligible expenses are broad - project costs related to materials & small equipment hire, delivery/transport, venue/site, printing/outreach costs (for example) will be considered.

  • Is reporting heavy? No. Light‑touch reporting: short acquittal with photos and receipts; start & mid‑point check‑in; interview with group representative at completion of project.

  • Private or public land? Both are possible. You will need to confirm you have the landholder's permission during the application process (we will provide a template and more info at this stage).
